The century, the English language was only beginning

The compelling Shakespearean tragedy “Romeo and Juliet” is an emotive and dramatic play in which the two eponymous characters, who come from the feuding families of Montague and Capulets falls deeply into passionate love. It appears to overpower the loyalty and emotions they have and is consistent throughout the entire play. Romeo and Juliet is disobeying their family laws, in order to share their love for one another. The main difference between Shakespearean and Modern English, can be considered under such categories of word class, vocabulary loss, verb forms, pronouns, preposition, multiple negation and spelling and punctuations. For example ” This bud of love,by summer’s ripening breath, may prove a beauteous when next we meet.” (Act ll, Scene 2). The language of shakespeare plays should be markedly different from the English we use almost for four centuries later. In the 16th century, the English language was only beginning to be used by creative writers. After Juliet meets Romeo, she deeply falls in love with him. She disobeys her parent rules, just so she could be with Romeo. For example ” O Romeo, O Romeo! Wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name; or ┬áthou wilt not, be but sworn my love, and I’ll no longer be a Capulet”.Romeo and Juliet plans to be secretly married. Romeo immaturity is again manifest later when he finds out about his banishment, but the Friar reminds him for not thinking through his consequence of his actions for his wife. Juliet gives Romeo a promise ring due to his banishment. But as the story ends, Romeo and Juliet lies at peace together. For example “These violent delights, have violent endings.” This play about love and fate. Romeo love for Rosaline quickly changes after he meet a Capulet ┬ánamed Juliet. Their love because violent due the fate between the two families. The honor code that governs the feuding families, sees the destruction of Romeo, Juliet, Mercutio, Tybalt, and Paris. For example ” Deny thy father and refuse thy name, my love sprung from my only hate!” The selfless love between Romeo and Juliet is a strong contrast to the hate that fills Verona.
